My friend, Stephanie Nielson, asked me to paint portraits of her four wonderful children. I decided to do four paintings that will fit together as one painting. Here you can see some photos of the process of this project. If you are interested in commissioning a portrait or painting, please contact me through the contact page of my website.

The Idea

In 2009 I did a project called Hour Provo, modeled after a similar project done by my brother and his friend in New London Connecticut. Stephanie's Nielson's portrait was the 49th I painted in this series. She asked me if someday I would paint her kids. Early this year I came up with an idea for a painting of her four kids: four square profile paintings that fit together as one big square painting. This was inspired by Stephanie's profile cut-outs that she does. I love simple basic design so the square and circle came naturally. I took the sketch to Stephanie and she loved the idea so we decided to do it.
